Back-to-back jacks help Iolani rally past Mid-Pacific

Fans at Damon Field today were treated to some midday fireworks, courtesy of the top of the Raiders' batting order.

Kaimana Lau Kong's two-run bomb was followed up by a solo shot by Judah Ota, part of a six run fifth inning that proved to be the diiference in a 6-2 win for Iolani over Mid-Pacific.

Trailing 2-0 heading into their half of the fifth, Brady Minami singled to get things going, and Jadon Anzai followed up with a double to left to get Iolani on the board.

The back-to-back jacks by the Raiders' one and two batters that followed punctuated an inning that saw four extra base hits (two home runs, two doubles), two singles and a sacrfice fly translate into six big runs.

Mid-Pacific, seemingly shell-shocked, could not find the answer offensively in the final two innings, only managing to get one runner aboard via a lead off walk in the sixth.

Brennan Kim, who came on in the fifth in relief of starter Noah Chong, got the win, allowing no runs on no hits, and just one walk in two innings of work, with Cade Nakama pitching a scoreless seventh to close things out.

The Owls scored its two runs via the long ball, a two-run shot by Shawn Loui to center in the third.
