Maryknoll holds off Iolani, moves on to face top-seeded Kamehameha in ILH 2nd-round final Wednesday

Pua Herrington scored 24 points to lead No. 5 Maryknoll to a 52-50 win over No. 4 Iolani in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I girls basketball second-round game Tuesday night.

The Spartans (5-6) advanced to Wednesday night's single-elimination tournament title game against top-seeded and top-ranked Kamehameha, which defeated fourth-seeded Punahou, 55-26 in the other tournament semifinal Tuesday night.

The Raiders (5-6) still have a chance to secure the ILH's second state tournament berth by virtue of finishing second in the league's triple round-robin first round.

Herrington, a 5-foot-10 junior and Waiakea-transfer, shot 11 of 12 from the free-throw line and also made one of her team's three 3-pointers.

Rebekah Lum Kee and Zoe Silva added seven points apiece and Haylie Perez and Skylynn Moore each scored six points for the Spartans.

Justice Kekauoha scored a game-high 26 points to lead Iolani, which also got 16 points from Mia Frye.

It was the fifth meeting between the teams this season and the third in six nights. Iolani beat Maryknoll, 55-44, in a one-game playoff Monday night to determine the second-place finisher after both teams finished 4-5 in the first round.

Maryknoll will play Kamehameha Wednesday in the second-round final at a site and time to be determined.

The Warriors had already clinched one of the league's two state tournament berths as the first-round champion.
