Last second bucket helps Leilehua turn away Mililani

When the Mules needed a clutch basket, it was only fitting that a guy named Cobe delivered.

Cobe Wyatt delivered the eventual game-winning basket with 23 seconds left in regulation to lift Leilehua to a 51-50 win over Mililani, in both teams' regular season openers.

The Mules led 12-8 after the first and 33-24 at half time, but the Trojans clawed it way back in the second half, where it eventually took the lead with 1:25 left in the fourth on a layup by LeCedric Brown.

On the ensuing play, Wyatt actually missed a jumper but the ball was stolen back by Tyree Wilson, who got the ball to Wyatt for the go-ahead layup.

Mililani actually had a final chance at the victory in the closing seconds, but a three by Brown was off target to end the threat.

Wyatt was one three Mules to reach double figures with 13, the others being Zachery Ranos with 12 and Wilson with 10. Wilson also pulled down 10 rebounds to earn a double-double.

Mililani was led by Brown, who had a game-high 15 and Roman Gabriel, who added 13 points and eight rebounds.

The down-to-the-wire finish in central Oahu was one of two OIA regular season games that went down to the wire, and all four teams involved were freshly christened into the Power Rankings, the other pairing being a game between Kailua and Kahuku that was won by the Surfriders, 49-48.
