Kaiser opens up regular season slate with home win over Kalaheo

Kaiser knocked down eight three pointers to kick off the regular season with a 62-46 win over visiting Kalaheo.

Norris Birdsong and Noah Itokazu combined for 27 points and five triples to pace that Cougars from the perimeter, and forward/center Mano Tiritas went inside the arc to post a game-high 20 points.

Birdsong's 17 points was a season high, and Tiritas' 20 tied his career best output for a game.

The Mustangs actually led by a point at the break, but the Cougars outscored the visiing team 33-17 down the stretch for a double digit margin of victory.

Kalaheo ws led by Austin Trenum and Lucus Andrews, who scored 12 and 11 points respectively and knocked down 5 of 5 free throws.

All 46 points for Kalaheo were scored by the starters, and only eight players checked into the contest in total.

In contrast, the Cougars checked in seven reserves to the contest, with the bench contributing eight points to the effort.
