CJ Caraang | SLNo. 3 Kamehameha and No. 2 Moanalua are moving on to the semifinals of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I Girls Volleyball State Championships.
The Warriors and Na Menehune will square off in the 7 p.m. semifinal at Punahou's Christopher B. Hemmeter Fieldhouse after each disposed of their opponent in straight sets in Thursday's quarterfinal round at Kekuhaupio Gymnasium.
In the 5 p.m. quarterfinal, unseeded Kamehameha swept past third-seeded Baldwin by set scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 26-24. Kalaweloilehua Chock led the way with 18 kills and 12 digs and Kamanao Goldstein added 10 kills and six digs for the Warriors (10-6).
Amanda and Ariana Naipo paced the Bears (14-1) with seven kills apiece. Natronai Anana recorded a match-high 13 digs and Lilinoe Paschoal recorded 22 assists in the loss.
Second-seeded Moanalua cruised past Kalaheo in the nightcap by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-18.
Zaria Queen put down a dozen kills and added eight digs and three aces. Jerney Tang-Silva totaled six kills and seven digs and the trio of Kaila Kalama-Bajet, Nora-Ramsey Carey and Chloe Fukumitsu chipped in five kills apiece. Kalama-Bajet also contributed 11 assists, five aces and four digs and Jayde Perifanos-Taamu tallied 18 assists and eight digs in the win.
Jourdyn Kekauoha-Viena led Kalaheo with 18 kills, while Jazz Satele-Filifili added a match-high 16 digs and five kills and Jada Satele-Filifili notched 10 digs, seven kills and 14 assists.
Kalaheo will play Baldwin in a consolation match Friday, 3:30 p.m. at Kalani.
