Greg Yamamoto | SLThe Surfriders are playoff bound for the third straight season.
A soggy field at Alex Kane Stadium did little to slow down Stoney Pocock and the Kailua passing attack, as the senior wideout had three long touchdown grabs of 54, 53 and 65 yards in a 37-13 win over Aiea.
The win over Na Alii secured the third seed in the OIA Division I playoffs was a big one, as a loss would have created a three-way tie between Aiea, Waianae and Radford.
Kailua jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter on a 12 yard TD pass from Isaiah Keaunui-Demello to Benjamin Honebein and the first of Pocock's scores, but saw Aiea respond with a pass from Elijah Mendoza to Jhermie Cacpal that made it 16-7.
Pocock's second score opened the lead back up to double digits, and Jonah Sua added to the lead with a 30 yard pick-six to make it 30-7 at the half.
Touchdown number three for Pocock extended the Surfriders' lead to 37-7 with just under five minutes remaining, and Aiea got a final score on a Mendoza to Jeremiah Hill connection from four yards out with under a minute remaining to cap the scoring.
