Chansen Smith threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score to help No. 8 Farrington cruise to a 42-7 win over host Waipahu Friday night.

The Governors (4-5 overall, 1-4 league) broke a five-game losing streak and handed the Marauders (2-7, 0-5) their sixth consecutive loss before a homecoming crowd of the Masa Yonamine Athletic Complex.

Smith threw a pair of touchdown passes to Jacob Talamoa. The duo's TD connection with 7:59 left in the second quarter put their team ahead for good.

Smith ran for a touchdown and scooted into the end zone on the ensuing two-point conversion with 2:47 remaining in the first half to give his team a 21-7 lead.

After halftime, Smith found Ku Ponciano for a TD pass at the 9:43 mark of the third quarter. He linked up with Talamoa for another scoring strike a few minutes later that stretched it to a 35-7 cushion.

Farrington sent it into mercy-rule running clock with a touchdown pass from Lautiti Liufau to Everest Rodriguez with 3:30 left in the third quarter.

Both teams are eliminated from postseason contention as only the top four teams in the six-team Open Division in the Oahu Interscholastic Association qualify for the league tournament.
