Mid-Pacific outlasted Punahou in a five-set marathon, 22-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-23, 15-10, to notch its first win of the season and halt a 32-game losing streak against the Buffanblu dating back to Sept. 9, 2010.

Destiny Look put down a game-high 21 kills and the Owls also got big afternoons from Nikko Stack (17 klills, 18 digs) and Kawena Palaualelo (13 kills).

After dropping the first two sets, the Owls rallied in the third, trailing early in the set but taking control at 5-4 on a Stack kill and didn't look back, winning the set going away 25-15.

Set four was a back and forth affair, with the Buffanblu leading 20-19 in the final points of the set before the Owls rallied to score the final six points to level the match at two sets a piece.

In the deciding set, it was all Owls. Trailing at two-all early, Mid-Pacific went on a 10-2 scoring run capped by a Palaualelo kill that pushed the lead to 12-4. Punahou put together a mini-rally to get to 13-10, but the Owls got the final two points to cap the game.

Owls' setter Milan Scanlan dished out a season-high 52 assists and added four aces and 16 digs, and Mia and Mari Furoyama combined for 39 kills and three aces.

Punahou was led by True Takemoto with 16 kills and 25 digs.

The Buffablu's front line outblocked the Owls 19 to 2, led by Faatamali Brown, who had a block solo and six assisted blocks, but had only seven aces compared to 12 for Mid-Pacific.

Punahou's season ends the way it began, with consecutive losses. The Buffanblu finished with a 4-7 record, with each of its four wins followed by a defeat.

Mid-Pacific marches onward in the elimination bracket, where it will face off with Kamehameha, who lost to Iolani in four sets.
