Brian Bautista | SLLiatama Amisone made sure it was a happy homecoming for the fifth-ranked Kapolei Hurricanes.
Amisone threw four touchdown passes and ran in two other scores to power Kapolei to a 68-8 thumping of No. 12 Waipahu at the Alvin Nagasako Sports Complex Friday night.
The Hurricanes rebounded from their loss to top-ranked Campbell a week ago to improve to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the Open Division of the Oahu Interscholastic Association.
The Marauders dropped their third straight game to fall to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Amisone, a senior quarterback and third-year starter, threw for 281 yards on 16-of-27 passing without an interception. He found Zayne Pasion for touchdown passes of 11 and 47 yards and connected with Maui Remigio on scoring strikes of 7 and 20 yards.
Kapolei posted 33 first-quarter points, including TD runs of 3 and 7 yards by Amisone and held a 47-8 lead by halftime.
Pasion finished with seven receptions for 104 yards and Remigio had four catches for 93 yards.
Amisone carried six times for 45 yards.
Kapolei racked up 494 yards of total offense and held Waipahu to only 173 net yards.
Both teams return to action next week. Kapolei will visit No. 8 Farrington Friday night, while Waipahu will play at No. 2 Kahuku on Saturday night.
