Kaiser rolls past rival Kalani to notch second straight win

Kaiser notched its second straight win in league play in convincing fashion, racing past rival Kalani, 49-7, to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Caleb Hamasaki had a pair of circus catches for scores and Brady Kim added two more touchdowns via the ground game, as the Cougars scored 21 points in each of the first two quarters to take command.

It was a game of contributions from reserves on both sides.

Kaiser's Jesse Shinagawa, making his second start in place of injured starter BJ Rezentes, was an efficient 13 of 15 for 131 yards with two TDs and added 48 rushing yards and another score. Aiden Leong, started in place of Dillon Reis, out due to a concussion, and churned out a game-high 114 yards on just 11 carries with one TD.

In fact, the Cougars' deployed a bevy of ball carriers and recievers throughout the contest. Kim had a strong game with 76 yards and two scores, Peter Moku had 40 yards on five carries, and Blain Kupahu scored from 13 yards out to cap the home team's scoring. Eight different players caught a pass, led by Hamasaki's four grabs for 66 yards.

On the other side of the ball, reserve QB Bradin Tollefsen had the highlight play for the Falcons on the evening, a delayed keeper that went down the right sideline for a 55 yard score to end the first quarter.

The Cougars defense held the Falcons to just 101 of total offense, had eight tackles for loss and added a fumble recovery. Samisoni Mafi, Mathias Mafi and Keegan Pimental each had a pair of TFLs.

Koa Colburn led the Falcons with nine total tackles.
