Male Distinguished Athlete of the Year: Kainoa Wade, Kamehameha volleyball

The junior opposite propelled the Kamehameha boys' volleyball team to its sixth state championship and its first in a span of 13 years. Wade combined for 70 kills in wins over Moanalua and Punahou on consecutive nights in the state semifinals and finals, respectively. In the process, he and the Warriors brought an end to the Buffanblu's 10-year title reign. The 6-foot-9 University of Hawaii-bound pin hitter was selected as All-Hawaii Player of the Year for a second straight season.

Female Distinguished Athlete of the Year: Carly Cormack, Punahou soccer

The senior midfielder shined as the centerpiece of the Buffanblu attack the past three seasons. Cormack tallied 11 goals and nine assists this year, which culminated with Punahou's successful defense of its Division I state crown. Cormack is a two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year and a two-time pick by league coaches as Interscholastic League of Honolulu Offensive Player of the Year. The University of Oregon-bound center-mid led Punahou to its third straight state final and its 13th overall state crown.
