Brian Bautista | SLFor the second season in a row, Moanalua and Kamehameha will face off in the semifinals for a spot in the title game of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I Boys Volleyball Championships.
Moanalua dominated its quarterfinal match against Roosevelt, winning all three sets, 25-16, 25-16, and 25-14.
Five players registered at least four kills for Na Menehune, led by D'Angelo Ross and Jaycen Bush with nine each. Bush had 11 digs, and Ross had 5 total blocks, both match highs.
Setter Malu Wilcox had 27 assists and added nine digs in the win.
The Rough Riders committed as many hitting errors and they did kills, 24 each. Ford Lyons had seven kills and three blocks in the loss.
In the late quarterfinal, Kamehameha got 20 kills from Kainoa Wade and coasted past Hilo, 25-10, 25-12 and 25-18.
The Warriors, who hit a blistering .429 in the match, saw 13 players take the court, with nine of them registering at least a kill or an ace.
Kamehameha had eight service aces and five total blocks, while not allowing Hilo to register any in either stat column.
