No. 4 Punahou rolls by No. 8 Kamehameha-Kapalama

No. 4 Punahou scored in every stanza to roll by No. 8 Kamehameha-Kapalama, 37-0, in an ILH Open Division matchup at Alexander Field Saturday.

The Buffanblu remain unbeaten in league play and improved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the ILH.

Punahou hosts No. 5 Saint Louis next Saturday in a regular season finale for both teams. A Buffanblu win wraps up the ILH Open title and state tournament berth. A Crusader win can force a winner-take-all playoff game on Nov. 10.

Alai Williams finished with 10 carries for 57 yards and scored on 23 and 4-yard touchdowns to put the Buffanblu ahead, 14-0 in the first quarter.

Carson Beard went 4 for 5 on extra points and added a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter for a 17-0 lead.

Punahou's defense forced four interceptions, two were taken to the house by Dillon and Dane Kellner. Dillon had a 82-yard interception return to put the Buffanblu up, 23-0 and Dane had a 36-yard pick-six in the fourth to send the game to running clock.

Ty McCutcheon threw for 205 yards on 13-of-23 passing without an interception and his 84-yard touchdown went to Zion White, who caught three passes for 107 yards.

The Warriors (4-5 overall) ended their season on a five-game losing streak and went 0-4 in ILH play.

Moe Passi rushed for a game-high 75 yards on 16 carries. Kayden Quon-Kaleiopu had six tackles to lead the Warrior defense and Alika Harbottle had five.

Backup quarterback Pono Kahaulelio threw for 74 yards on 13-of-25 passing and was intercepted twice.

Buffanblu won the first matchup 31-3 on Sept. 22.
