Ike Larsen's 38 yard interception return for touchdown became the eventual margin of victory as Utah State defeated the University of Hawaii for the fourth straight time as the road team, 41-34.
The Aggies weathered 541 yards of total offense by the home team, including a career-high 306 yards of passing for Brayden Shager, and a furious fourth quarter rally for the Rainbow Warriors, who outscored the Aggies 17-7 in the period.
Utah State led 34-17 heading into the final quarter of play, and saw its lead trim to 34-24 on a 31 yard pass play from Schager to Caleb Phillips. Larsen's pick six cushioned the margin back out to 41-24 at the 4:33 mark, much to the relief of the Aggies' faithful, as the home team scored on its next possession on a 69 yard run by Tylan Hines and added a 19 yard field goal by Matthew Shipley with 18 seconds to go to trim the margin to just a single score.
The ensuing onside kick was recovered by Utah State, who ran out the clock to end it.
Calvin Tyler Jr. led the way for the Aggies, rushing for 113 yards and a score and adding a 35 yard touchdown reception as well.
For the Rainbow Warriors, Dedrick Parson topped the century mark on the ground with 101 yards and Hines added 97 more rushing yards and a score. Jonah Panoke caught his first touchdown as a Rainbow Warrior in the second quarter from 11 yards out and finished with five grabs for 70 yards.
Logan Taylor racked up 13 total tackles in the loss, and Meki Pei added eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
