EWA BEACH — No. 3 Campbell made up for a slow first quarter with a 40-point outburst in the second in their 54-7 win over Leilehua on their own field Saturday.

After losing a 35-34 heartbreaker to No. 2 Mililani last week, Campbell got back into the win column. Five different Sabers chipped in touchdowns in the 40-point second quarter onslaught to improve to 3-1 overall, 1-1 in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Open Division.

The Mules dropped to 0-3-1 overall, 0-2 in the OIA.

Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele finished with 267 yards on 18-of-28 passing, no picks, two touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Campbell.

Tana Togafau-Tavui caught seven passes for 96 yards to lead all receivers, Rowen Bucao with 80 receiving yards and a score, and Kanoa Ferreira with 65 yards on two catches.

The Sabers started on their own 41 and went 12 plays down to the Mules' 4 but turned it over on downs.

After forcing a punt, Campbell found the end zone in four plays. Seven seconds into the second quarter, Sagapolutele launched it to Bucao for a 32-yard touchdown to get the Sabers on the scoreboard.

Blesyng Alualu-Tuiolemotu picked off Pono Arindain and returned it to the house to make it, 14-0 following Cristian Wyckstandt's kick.

Following a Mule punt, Sagapolutele completed a 55-yard pass to Kanoa Ferreira and five plays later, Togafau-Tavui took the direct snap for a 4-yard touchdown run.

Niko Scanlan added a 9-yard rushing touchdown but the kick was no good as Campbell led, 27-0.

Nalu Cordeiro intercepted Dustin Chow and the Sabers cashed the turnover into points with a six-play, 49-yard drive capped by Sagapolutele's 5-yard touchdown pass to Mason Muaau, but the pass failed for a 33-point lead.

Tainoa Lave retuned the Leilehua punt 50 yards for a 40-0 lead before halftime that initiated running clock in the second half.

Campbell capitalized on Diamond Hanohano-Patashin's interception. Chauncee Lopez gained 25 yards on two carries and Sagapolutele completed a 41-yard pass to Bucao that set up his 1-yard scamper into the end zone with seven seconds left in the third quarter.

Leilehua got on the scoreboard on a 11-play, 80 yard drive that resulted in Arindain's 18-yard touchdown pass to Chow for their only points of the game. Chow finished 10 of 13 for 60 yards and two interceptions.

Chayne Kuboyama-Hayashi went 3 for 3 and 42 yards and Miles Parlet punched in a 8-yard touchdown in Campbell's final scoring drive.

Kama Hoeppner-Corales led the Mules with 44 yards on three catches and Jayden Gayagas had 47 rushing yards on 10 carries in the second half.

Kamaehu Kopa-Kaawalauole had four solo tackles and Tysic Punt had three tackles that went for losses.

Campbell hosts No. 1 Kahuku (4-0 overall, 2-0 OIA), who edged No. 5 Punahou, 27-20 tonight, on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Leilehua looks to crack the win column as it goes to Moanalua (1-2-1 overall, 0-1 OIA) on Friday, Sept. 9.
