Iolani wide receiver Nela Taliauli caught 6 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns in Iolani's win over Radford in the Father Bray Memorial Football Classic. Kailie Alama | Special to SLFor the second straight week, Iolani put up big numbers offensively, taking down Radford, 56-41, to win the 57th edition of the Father Bray Memorial Football Classic.
It was a very closely contested game for at least the first half, and were it not a late Kawaakoa touchdown that pulled Iolani ahead by a single point, Radford could very well have led at the intermission.
Coming out of the break, however, Iolani scored 28 straight points to seemingly put the game on ice. Radford did rally to score the last two touchdowns of the game, including a 44 yard pass from Kalob Victorino-Avilla to Tyrese Miller as time expired, to trim the final margin to 15.
The Iolani duo of Kaeo Kawaakoa and Nela Taliauli combined for six total touchdowns for the second consecutive game, and three Raiders' signal callers combined for 302 passing yards in the win, led by CJ Villanueva with 141 yards and a score.
Kawaakoa scored three times on ground, and added a 26 yard reception for another score. Taliauli grabbed six passes for 132 and two touchdowns of his own.
Radford had its own share of fireworks on the offensive end, with Victorino-Avilla putting on a show with 337 yards passing and three touchdowns, while adding 88 yards and another score on the ground. He did throw two interceptions, however, including one taken back 70 yards for a score by Jacob Gaudi.
Miller pulled down seven passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns, and Michael Hayslett toted the rock 22 times for 120 yards and a score of his own.
The Rams outgained the Raiders 553 to 382.
