Passi powers Kamehameha II past PAC-5 for first win

Moe Passi rushed for 171 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries to lead Kamehameha II to a 25-8 win over PAC-5 in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu football game at Aloha Stadium Friday.

The Warriors (1-2) picked up their first win, while the Wolfpack (0-4) remained winless.

Kamehameha built a 25-0 lead on Passi's 6-yard TD run and Kain Tubania's extra point at the 7:42 mark of the fourth quarter. That score came just a few minutes after Nazaiah Caravallo's 2-yard TD run, which came just three plays after a defensive takeaway on an Ezekiel Arias interception.

The Warriors led 3-0 at halftime and stretched it to a 10-0 lead on a 2-yard TD run by Noah Spencer early in the third quarter.

PAC-5's only score came on Ezekiel Rodrigues' 40-yard touchdown pass to Nai Iwaki with 5:32 to play.

Joshua Arcayena rushed 18 times for 77 yards for the Wolfpack, which posted 183 yards of total offense, including 140 rushing, but was a meager 1 of 12 on third downs and totaled just seven first downs for the game.

Kamehameha posted 234 total yards, 153 of them via its ground game. Passi averaged 6.3 yards per rush.

The teams combined for 11 turnovers.

PAC-5's defense registered five takeaways, including three fumble recoveries by Tanner Pangan, who also forced a fumble and had two tackles for loss.

The Warriors got six takeaways from their own defense — three fumble recoveries and three interceptions.

PAC-5 will face Damien Friday, 5 p.m. at Aloha Stadium, while Kamehameha II next plays Saint Louis II on Oct. 8, also in Halawa.
