The Big Island Interscholastic Federation released its updated football schedule for this fall on Friday morning in an email from BIIF football coordinator and Kau High athletic director Kalei Namohala. 

The league schedule begins on Friday, Oct. 15 with a pair of Division II games. Kau will visit Kamehameha-Hawaii, while Honokaa will play host to Kohala on opening night. Pahoa will visit Hawaii Prep the next day. 

The Division I schedule gets underway the following weekend, with No. 11 Hilo visiting Konawaena on Friday, Oct. 22. Waiakea will host Keaau at Ken Yamase Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 23. 

The five teams in Division I are Hilo, Konawaena, Kealakehe, Waiakea and Keaau, while Kamehameha-Hawaii, Hawaii Prep, Honokaa, Kohala, Kau and Pahoa make up the teams in D2. 

All teams will play a single round-robin schedule within their division. D1 teams will have a four-game schedule, with the top four teams advancing to the league semifinals on Friday, Nov. 26. D2 teams will play five regular-season games and also have a four-team tournament, with the semifinals held on Saturday, Dec. 4. 

The winners of the league championship games — D1 to be held on Friday, Dec. 3 and D2 on Saturday, Dec. 11 — will advance to the HHSAA state tournament, which is scheduled for late December and early January.
