Oak Hill, Wasatch Academy meet for Iolani Classic title

Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah) handled Long Island Lutheran (Brookeville, New York), 68-58 in the first semifinals matchup making them the first Utah team to advance to the Iolani Classic title game while in the nightcap, Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson, Virginia) cruised by Jefferson (Portland, Oregon), 79-61.

The ninth ranked Crusaders in the USA Today Super 25 Boys Basketball Rankings, led by as much as eight in the first half, but No. 11 Wasatch roared back to take the lead on Richie Saunders' 3-pointer, 29-28 and Isaacs Jr. and Saunders combined for the final five points to give the Tigers a 34-28 lead at halftime.

It was all Wasatch to open the second half and the Tigers pulled away for good in the third quarter.

Five Tigers scored in double figures led by Caleb Lohner's 14, Leonardo Colimerio and Richard Isaacs Jr. each with 13 and Mike Saunders and Richie Saunders each added 11 in the win.

Andre Curbelo led all scorers with 24 points and Zed Key added 19 in the loss as the Crusaders face Jefferson for third place in the tournament.

LSU commit Cam Thomas poured in 33 points and Darius Maddox, a Virginia Tech signee added 16 as No. 14 Oak Hill dominated the Democrats early on and led by as much as 20 in the final stanza.

The Warriors seeking their first Classic title since 2014 and their eighth-overall on Saturday night.

Kamron Robinson had 18 points, Marquis Cook with 14 and Nate Rawlins-Kibonge had 10 in the loss.
