Takahashi totals 5 goals as Mustangs crush Knights

KAILUA — Kalaheo dominated Castle in a 7-0 win at home in a Oahu Interscholastic Association boys soccer contest Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs (3-0) remained perfect with the win, their second shut out of the season, and picked up three points to keep pace with Kailua atop the OIA Division I East standings with nine points apiece.

The Knights (0-2) were coming off of a bye and remain winless in the D2 East standings.

In the first half, Kalaheo scored four goals in a span of less than 10 minutes.

Kai Takahashi put away a through-ball under the Castle goalkeeper in the ninth minute.

In the 13rd minute, Dixon Davis assisted on a Daniel Fujiwara goal that ricocheted off the keeper and in. A minute later, Takahashi got a pass from Fujiwara before burying his second goal of the match.

Takahashi netted his hat trick goal in the 18th minute, when he dribbled through the Knights defense and slotted it home from close range.

Takahashi added two more goals after halftime for his fourth and fifth of the game. The senior midfielder headed in a cross from Atreyu Ramos in the 45th minute and scored off another Davis assist just two minutes later.

Takahashi has scored six goals on the season, tied for the second most in the OIA.

Zanskar Stohler closed out the scoring with his goal in the 69th minute.

Kalaheo will host Roosevelt Wednesday, while Castle will host Kahuku on the same day.
