Konawaena rebounded from a lopsided loss the previous night to beat Maryknoll decisively, 57-39 in the Matsumoto Law Group McKinley Black & Gold Classic Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats lost to defending state champion Iolani 54-26 last night, but responded to take a 13-5 lead after the first quarter and 30-16 lead at intermission and led by as much as 17.
Kaliana Salazar-Harrell sliced and diced the Spartans with 24 points and made three 3-pointers and Caiyle Kaupu scored eight points in the first quarter to finish with 14.
Salazar-Harrell scored 14 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats led by as much as 20.
Maryknoll started the third quarter on a 6-1 run, but Konawaena responded with a run of their own to put the game out of reach.
Serenity Moananu scored a team-high 11 points and Kyla Neumann had 10 points and sank two of the team's three 3-pointers in the loss.
Konawaena wraps up the Classic against Kamehameha-Kapalama while Maryknoll takes on Lahainaluna Saturday.
