Big second quarter propels Menes past Sabers

WAIPIO — Madison Komatsu netted four goals as five different Moanalua players found the back of the net in Moanalua's 10-7 win over Campbell Saturday afternoon in a second round Oahu Interscholastic Association matchup at the K. Mark Takai Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center at the Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park.

It was an even 1-1 game after the first seven minutes of play, but the Menes rattled off five goals in the second quarter to help pull away from the Sabers to improve to 7-3 on the season as Campbell dropped to 5-3.

Moanalua's plus-three scoring margin in the second quarter proved to be the difference as both teams scored an even four times in the second half.

Isabella McRae and Koko Butcher both netted a pair of goals to follow Komatsu with Marissa Halim and Shirfei Tay each getting one score apiece.

Tatiana Troup found the back of the net six times for the Sabers with Lana Tremmel getting the remaining lone goal.

Campbell next takes on Leilehua (6-4) on Wednesday while Moanalua will battle with Kapolei (6-3). Both matches will be at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center.
