HAWAII KAI — Senior setter Kalai Skeele dished out 19 assists to help No. 9 Kaiser squeeze by Roosevelt, 25-18 and 25-22, Monday evening in Oahu Interscholastic Association East Division play at the Cougars' home gym.

Six different players, including Skeele, recording a kill with Kahea Kamalani leading the way with eight. He and Cyrus Singleman each also slammed in a service ace in addition to Ashton Ashimine's team-leading three.

The Cougars jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first set and stayed steady until Roosevelt rallied for three-straight points to make it 20-16. But Skeele assisted on kills to Kamalani, Conrad Morgan and Giovanni Flowers to close it out at 25-18.

Set No. 2 was much closer as the Rough Riders took a narrow 7-5 lead before Kamalani's ace tied it all up at 7. The score would later be tied up again at  11, 13, 15 and 16 before Kaiser notched three points in a row to pull away until the final score of 25-22.

Roosevelt had three players lead the team with four kills each in Milton Haliniak, Riley Barretto and Joal Lojkar. Micah Visoria put up 11 assists.

Kaiser next takes on No. 2 Moanalua (3-0) on Wednesday while Roosevelt will look to get into the win column against Kahuku (2-1).
