Cal, Dung down Rainbow Wahine in five innings

MANOA — Cal notched its fifth consecutive mercy-rule win with a 14-0 shutout of Hawaii in five innings at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium Thursday evening as part of the 2019 Outrigger Resorts Spring Fling Tournament.

Senior pitcher Kamalani Dung (Kamehameha '15/All-Hawaii first-team selection) dominated the Rainbow Wahine with eight strikeouts and allowed only three hits in the complete-game win as the Golden Bears improved to a 14-7 record.

With an 8-0 deficit after two innings, Hawaii unloaded its bench as 19 different players got into the game, including four different pitchers.

Izzy Dino was tagged with the loss, going 1-1/3 innings with six hits and six runs allowed. Emily Klee, Ashley Murphy and Dominique Martinez each saw time in the circle for the Rainbow Wahine.

Hawaii dropped to 13-5 and will look to rebound with two games against Niagara and a final match against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville to close out the tournament.
