Big first quarter helps Mustangs overpower Knights

This one was over as soon as it started.

Kalaheo jumped out to a 25-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as it dominated visiting Castle in a 74-26 win at Pete Smith Court Friday night.

Kanoa Smith scored 17 points and Andrew Kearney had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds to help the Mustangs pick up their second straight win and improve to 3-3 in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I-Eastern Conference standings.

Lawrence DeCosta also had 11 points for Kalaheo as the home team held the Knights to single-digit scoring in the first, third and fourth quarters.

Josh Wills led Castle (0-5) in the loss with 13 points with six rebounds and three made triples.
