Kailua, Radford and Kaiser are all hosting preseason invitationals/tournaments this week. ScoringLive photo illustrationCourt is now in session.
The upcoming week will give roundball fans ample opportunities to check out some of the top teams in the state in the various tournaments taking place on Oahu.
Radford will be hosting the 18th annual James Alegre Boys Invitational from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3. The four-day tourney will feature teams from the Oahu Interscholastic Association taking on teams from other leagues, and even a team from California. The field includes four teams that made it into the Division I state tournament (Kalaheo, Punahou, Lahainaluna, Leilehua) and two teams that made the Division II state tourney (Saint Francis, Honokaa).
For those that live on the Windward side, the 5th annual Surfriders Boys Holiday Classic should also provide an entertaining treat. Kailua is hosting the tournament from Dec. 1-3 in a championship bracket setting. The first place game will be played on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The field includes defending Division I state champion Iolani, who takes on Campbell at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Kaiser will be hosting a three-day tourney which ends on Saturday night. The Cougar Preseason Showdown Girls Basketball Tournament will feature four teams that finished in the top 10 of the ScoringLive/Hawaiian Electric Power Rankings (Maryknoll, Punahou, Kaiser and Farrington).
