HALAWA — Brett Rypien threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns as No. 24 Boise State cruised to a 52-16 rout of Hawaii in a Mountain West Conference game before a crowd of 22,731 at Hawaiian Tel FCU Field at Aloha Stadium Saturday.

The Broncos posted a season-high 603 yards of total offense, including 403 in the first half alone to improve to 9-1, 8-1 MWC.

Rypien, a sophomore quarterback and the reigning conference freshman of the year, completed 18 of his 22 pass attempts without an interception. Cedrick Wilson caught seven passes for 141 yards with a touchdown and Thomas Sperbeck pulled down five grabs for 114 yards and two scofes. Jeremy McNichols ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.

Boise State scored on all but four of its drives and punted just twice. It scored touchdowns on seven of its first eight possessions and took a commanding 35-3 lead into halftime.

Hawaii got three field goals from Rigoberto Sanchez from distances of 24, 32 and 35 yards. It's only other score came on Dru Brown's 5-yard touchdown pass to John Ursua early in the fourth quarter.

The Rainbow Warriors finished with 359 yards of total offense. Brown threw for 125 yards on 16-of-31 passing. Paul Harris carried 14 times for 145 rushing yards.

Trayvon Henderson had a game-high 10 tackles to lead the Hawaii defense.

The Rainbow Warriors have nost lost three straight games and four of their last five to fall to 4-7, 3-4. They finish the season at Fresno State Saturday and against UMass on Nov. 26 at Aloha Stadium.
