Pac-Five routs McKinley, 49-0

AIEA—Ryan Johnson threw six touchdowns in the first half to help Pac-Five trounce McKinley, 49-0 in the second game of a triple-header at Aiea High School.

This game was supposed to be the first game of the 53rd Annual Father Bray Memorial Football Classic, but the game had to be moved to Radford's John Velasco Stadium, but due to field and light issues, was moved to Aiea.

McKinley entered the week in the Hawaiian Electric/ScoringLive Power Rankings at the ninth spot, but were missing several players who were on academic probation.

Pac-Five redeemed turnovers into points as Johnson found four different receivers to start the scoring spree. He threw a 17-yard touchdown to Matthew Lee. Lee recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff that lead to another Johnson touchdown to Kanoa Ferreira.

Johnson threw a 55-yard touchdown to Jett Uechi and Christian Paet recovered another fumble on the kick off. Five plays later Johnson threw a 16-yard touchdown to Travis Kaloa to make it, 28-0 in the first quarter.

Johnson threw another touchdown to Ferreira, grabbed the ball with one hand and pinned it to his helmet for 36 yards. Ferreira's 39-yard punt return set up Johnson's sixth touchdown pass to Uechi. He finished with 341 yards on 19-of-30 passing.

Kealii Carvalho's forced fumble and Michael Lacuna's recovery gave the Wolfpack the ball to start the second half. Ferreira started at quarterback and tossed a 5-yard touchdown to Kaloa for the last score of the game.

The Tigers could not generate anything on offense as they finished the game with 57 yards of net offense. Iulio Atonio had a fumble recovery for the defense.

McKinley will start league play against rival Roosevelt at Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium on Aug. 12. Pac-Five will travel to Maui to take on Kamehameha-Maui on the same night.
