No. 9 Kailua holds off Castle, 11-8

Kailua jumped out to an early 7-1 lead after two innings and withstood a late Castle rally to remain unbeaten, 11-8 at Central Oahu Regional Park Tuesday night.

Taufau Williams batted 2 for 3 with a solo home run and two RBIs to help the ninth-ranked Surfriders improve to 3-0 in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I Eastern Division. The victory also helps Kailua keep pace with No. 7 Kaiser (3-0) for first place in the league

Dyani Cummings-Lani outdueled Mele Turner to pick up the win in the pitching circle. She had 136 total pitches and tossed seven strikeouts, two coming in the top of the seventh inning.

Castle, who was coming off a 43-2 four-inning win over McKinley, dropped to 2-2.
