Buffanblu spread out scoring in 4-2 win over Radford

WAIPAHU — Four different players scored as second-seeded Punahou defeated Radford, 4-2, in a quarterfinal match of The Queen's Medical Center/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I Boys Soccer State Championships at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium Thursday afternoon.

The Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Buffanblu got goals from Kalen Halvorson (34th minute), Hunter DeTurk (38th), Duncan McKenna (50th) and Kai Terada-Herzer (67th) to improve to 10-0-3. They will face third-seeded Kamehameha-Maui in a 7 p.m. semifinal Friday.

Elijah Tucker Smith scored on a penalty kick just before halftime and Warren Deleon added a goal in the closing minutes of the second half for the Rams (10-5), who finished third in the Oahu Interscholastic Association.

Radford, which was making its first state quarterfinal-round appearance, will face Kaiser in a 3 p.m. consolation game.

Punahou, which had a first-round bye Wednesday, improved to 27-4 all-time in quarterfinal matches.
