WAHIAWA — The Leilehua Mules had all the right countermeasures needed to withstand each wave Moanalua threw at them Friday night.
Three players finished in double figures to help seventh-ranked Leilehua take care of visiting Moanalua, 50-39 in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I quarterfinals at Richard Townsend Court.
The Mules, the OIA D1 West's regular season champion, will face sixth-ranked Kalaheo in next Tuesday's semifinals at McKinley. Both team have already locked up a spot in the Division I state tournament.
Joseph Gouty scored a team-high 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting and added four assists off the bench. Liam Fitzgerald and reserve forward Trey Boatwright each had 10 points to round out the Mules' in double-digit scoring.
Saige Pulu had a game-high 13 points to lead Na Menehune in the loss. Moanalua can still clinch one of the league's six spots in the D1 state tourney with a win over Kailua in the consolation bracket.
