La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.) survived an overtime-thriller to top Master's Academy (Oviedo, Fla.), 81-72 in the quarterfinals of the 32nd annual Iolani Boys Prep Classic Saturday night.

Brian Bowen dropped a game-high 25 points and Brandon Cyrus scored 12 of his 16 total points after halftime to lead the Lakers, ranked No. 3 in the latest USA Today Super 25 national rankings, past the scrappy Eagles in front of a crowd of 700 people at Iolani's Lower Gymnasium.

La Lumiere, who was making its second appearance in the 16-team tournament, moves on to take on Fairfax in an 8 p.m. semifinal game Monday.

The Lakers used their size advantage to success against Master's Academy and won the rebounding battle, 54 to 30. La Lumiere also totaled seven blocks and shot at a 50.9 percent clip (26 of 51) from shot attempts from 2-point range.

Master's Academy was able to hang around with the third-ranked team in the country thanks to its ability to hit it from beyond the arc, knocking down eight triples against the Lakers. Tanner Rubio led the effort with 24 points on five treys and was perfect at the free throw line (7-for-7).

Rubio was one of three Eagles to finish in double figures. Jakobi Bonner scored 21 points and Cole Thomas chipped in 11 more. Center Brooks Cluxton had a near double-double with nine points and eight rebounds with three blocks.

The Eagles' Josh Marble's heaved a 3-pointer from the left wing that banked off the backboard and danced around the rim before falling at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. This came after La Lumiere's James Banks knocked down two free throws with four ticks on the clock to give the Lakers a 68-65 lead.

La Lumiere took the early advantage in the extra period before Rubio knocked in a deep 3-pointer to give the Eagles a 71-69 lead. Bowen answered with a triple of his own to put the Lakers ahead for good, 72-71. The Eagles couldn't get any baskets to fall the rest of the way and La Lumiere made free throws when they needed to foul.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle that saw the lead exchange hands at least 10 times. La Lumiere held a slim advantage heading into the break, 25-24.

Master's Academy got hot from outside in the third quarter and was able to put some separation on the scoreboard for a 43-40 lead heading into the final period of regulation.

The Eagles rode the momentum to start the fourth quarter and held an 8-point lead, 52-44 with two minutes into the frame. La Lumiere reserve Isaiah Coleman got the Lakers back into it with three fourth quarter triples to make it a 56-55 game with 4:36 remaining in the fourth quarter and Bonner at the free throw line.

Bonner split a pair at the charity stripe opening the door for Tygah Campbell's trey to retake the lead for La Lumiere with 4:17 left in regulation. The two teams then traded baskets before sending the game into overtime.
