Softball tournament tidbits

Top-seeded and defending champion Mililani will be playing OIA West rival Campbell for the fourth time this season in the DataHouse Division I state softball tournament final Friday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The teams split the regular-season series and the Trojans beat the Sabers, 4-3, for the OIA championship.

This is the 14th all-OIA final and third where both teams are from the OIA West.

Campbell is the last unseeded team to win a championship, which was in 2010 against Punahou. Both teams were unseeded.

The last extra-inning game was in 2011 when Mid-Pacific beat Castle, 10-4, in eight innings. There have been only two extra-inning title games.

OIA 20: Kailua 10; Pearl City 4; Mililani 3; Castle, Kapolei, Campbell 1 each.
ILH 14

In Division II this is the first all-OIA final.
