Punahou boys, Mid-Pacific girls win state swimming titles


It was an ILH sweep in state swimming, as the Punahou boys and Mid-Pacific girls claimed team titles at the OC16 Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Veterans' Memorial Aquatic Center at Central Oahu Regional Park.

Junior Aukai Lileikis set state record marks in the 200-meter freestyle (1:36.75) and 500-meter freestyle (4:28.60) to help power the Buffanblu to the title over second-place Kamehameha-Kapalama.

Kamehameha senior Kanoa Kaleoaloha set two record marks of his own, a 20.27 in the 50-meter freestyle and a 44.93 in the 100-meter freestyle, and Campbell senior Makoa Alvarez posted a record mark of 49.55 in the 100-meter backstroke.

In the girls' team competition, Mid-Pacific edged Punahou, 62-57, headlined by senior Rebecca Walton, who set a state record mark in the 500-meter freestyle with a time of 4:57.27.
