Defending Division I state champion Mid-Pacific Institute will host the 34th annual Richard Kitamura Baseball Tournament this week at various sites.
The double-pool tournament consists of eight teams in each bracket. The champions of each bracket will play for the overall title 3 p.m Sunday at MPI.
This is the opening-round schedules for Wednesday and Thursday:
Pool B
Opening round, 4 p.m. Wednesday, unless noted
'Iolani at Mililani
Kapa'a vs. Kamehameha at MPI
Castle vs. Campbell at Central O'ahu Regional Park, field 4
'Aiea vs. Punahou at CORP field 4, 7 p.m.
Pool A
Opening round, 4 p.m. Thursday, unless noted
Waipahu at Mid-Pacific
Waimea vs. Moanalua, CORP field 4
Kalani vs. Roosevelt at Stevenson Middle, 4 p.m.
Saint Louis vs. Wai'anae, CORP field 4, 7 p.m.
Semifinals for each pool continues 4 p.m. Friday at various sites. The championship for each pool is 3 p.m. Saturday with Pool A at Mid-Pacific and Pool B at Mililani. Third-place games are at noon Saturday at respective sites.
The overall championship is 3 p.m. Sunday at MPI. The third-place game is noon and the consolation game is at 9 a.m., both at MPI.
