First place in the Oahu Interscholastic Association White East boys basketball race will be up for grabs when Kalani vists Kaiser Saturday night.

The Falcons (3-6) will make the six-mile drive down Kalanialaole Highway to take on the Cougars (4-5). It is the regular-season finale for both teams.

Kalani has lost three straight games — all to Division I teams — while Kaiser is coming off a 46-point win over Anuenue Monday. The teams are second and third in scoring average in the OIA White. The Cougars averaged 54.7 points per game and the Falcons 53.4.

Junior Cory Mitchell (13.0 ppg) and senior Brandon Roberts (10.7 ppg) are the top individual scorers for Kalani, which hosts Castle Thursday night.

Junior Kelsey Lewis II (12.5 ppg) and sophomore Chance Kalaugher (12.1) pace Kaiser, which visits Kaimuki Thursday.

Should both teams win Thursday, the winner of Saturday's game will claim the White East's top seed in the six-team league tournament, which gets underway next week. The top three teams from both the East and West qualify for the postseason, with the regular-season champs receiving a first-round bye into the semifinals. The top three teams from the OIA qualify for the Hawaiian Airlines/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II Boys Basketball State Championships.
