In a back-and-forth game, the visiting 'Iolani Raiders used a late run in the fourth quarter to put Punahou away on their Senior Night.

'Iolani's Abrianna Johnson-Edwards scored a team high 18 points.

Alex Masaquel added 12 points, and showed her range as she hit two 3-pointers. She was also an anchor down low and had 8 rebounds.

"I was feeling weary and towards the end, I knew my shots weren't going in so I was trying to rebound more," said Masaquel.

"She's been steady all year, we know what we're going to get from her," said 'Iolani head coach Eddie Maruyama.

'Iolani took an early lead, going up 7-2 after a three from Masaquel and points from Johnson-Edwards and Jade Botelho.

However, Punahou answered back and recaptured the lead, after made baskets from Turner Wong going up, 8-7.

The second quarter was tight as teams traded baskets. Wong hit a three to put the Buffanblu up, 17-13. Masaquel made a lay up to tie the game at 17.

Masaquel, who had 10 of her 12 points in the first half, hit a 3-pointer to go up, 25-23.

In the third quarter, Punahou went up 3, 28-25 after a layup from Hailey Motooka.

'Iolani's Sheyla Pua Kahalehoe made a three pointer to put the Raiders up, 36-31.

Punahou chipped away and Wong sank free throws to bring the team within 1, 36-35.

Because both teams were in the 1-and-1, they took turns at the free throw line. The game was eventually tied at 38.

'Iolani took the lead after a layup from Kahalehoe, 40-39.

Masaquel hit a baseline jumper to put the Raiders up 3, 42-39. Off the steal, Johnson-Edwards scored, giving the Raiders a 5-point cushion, 44-39.

However, 'Iolani went on a 7-2 run and sank their free throws to ice the game.

"That was nice to see, our kids responded well," said Maruyama.

'Iolani improves to 8-2 and locks up the number 2 seed in the ILH tournament starting next week. Punahou drops to 5-5.

"I thought our team played hard tonight. Being that it was their Senior Night and it was big game from the boys game earlier so thought we had to match their intensity. They (Punahou) had to play for the seeding so it was nice to see our kids respond," said Maruyama.

Punahou senior Turner Wong led all scorers with 19 points.
