The First Annual ScoringLive Free Throw Championship, presented by Taco Bell Hawaii, will take place on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 as part of The Great Aloha Sports, Health and Fitness Expo at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

The event will feature 16 boys and girls teams in a bracketed, single-elimination tournament, with the winning two-person teams taking home the ScoringLive Trophy and $500 each for their schools. The teams qualify for the event by finishing in the top 16 of the season-long Taco Bell Free Throw Challenge, which measures the best free-throw shooting teams in the state.

"We are excited to partner with ScoringLive and Taco Bell Hawaii to incorporate high school basketball into the Great Aloha family of events that promote a healthy Hawaii," said Carole Kai, chair of Carole Kai Charities, Inc. in a press release.

The event begins at 5 p.m. The winning teams in the girls' and boys' competitions will face off with the winner taking home the ScoringLive trophy.

Free Throw Championship Rules

» Each team will be seeded before the tournament begins.

» A team's seed is determined by their rank on the Taco Bell Free Throw Challenge board.

» Format of the championship is a single elimination tournament with brackets determined by seed, as follows, the #1 seed will play the #16 seed, #2 seed will play the #15 seed, and so on.

» The last team standing at the end will be declared the winner of their division.

» The higher seeded team will decide whether they want to shoot first or defer. In the Grand Championship round, a coin toss will determine which team shoots first.

» Participants will be given two practice attempts before the start of each turn.

» The participant must let the checker know when s/he is ready to begin.

» The count begins when the first free throw is attempted.

» All free throws must be attempted from behind the free throw line (15 feet) and inside the circle.

» Each team will go head to head against another team to advance.

» In the first and second rounds, each team will get a total of 10 free throws (5 free throws per person on each team). In the semifinals and final rounds, each team will get a total of 20 free throws (10 free throws per person on each team)

» Each team member will shoot all of their free-throws before the other can go.

» The team with the most free throws will advance.

» In the event of a tie, there will be a sudden death shoot off. Teams will alternate players with each shooting a single shot. During a shooting rotation, if one team misses their shot and the other makes it, the team making the shot will be declared the winner.
