Pac-Five passes past Waipahu, 26-13

Cody Kim completed 13 of 22 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns to lead Pac-Five over Waipahu, 26-13, Saturday night in the preliminary game of the 49th Father Bray Classic at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium.

Kim had TD passes of nine and eight yards to Keoni Tom-Millare in the second and fourth quarters. Kim also tossed a 14-yard TD pass to Roycen Routt.

Nicholas Kwon returned an interception 62 yards for a TD for the Wolfpack.

The Marauders trailed 19-0 before getting on the board on an 18-yard TD run by quarterback Kaimi Paredes, who also threw a 42-yard TD pass to Mataio Fualema.

While the Wolfpack's QB situation looks secure behind Kim, the Marauders are still auditioning for the spot. Kai Mercardo-Aiona started at QB before Paredes took over later in the game. Marcardo-Aiona was 1 of 7 for 25 yards with one interception, while Paredes was 3 of 8 for 69 yards. But Paredes brought an added dimension with his scrambling skills. He had 53 yards on 10 carries.

"We're going to settle on one," Waipahu coach Eric Keola said of the team's QB situation. "We haven't decided yet. But Kaimi gave us a lift in the second half. We'll probably going to decide this week."

The Marauders were short 17 players, a number from academic probation. That forced a number of players to play different positions, Keola said.
