Saint Francis to field JV, intermediate football in 2012

St. Francis School will launch junior varsity and intermediate football programs in the 2012 season, according to Sister Joan of Arc Souza, head of school.

The longterm plan is to replace JV ball with varsity ball in 2013, according to Sol Batoon, athletic director.

St. Francis School was founded in 1924 as a convent school but began admitting boys in 2006. In 2008 St. Francis boys began participating in Pac-Five intermediate football and have competed on the Wolfpack varsity for a couple of years.

The Saints' JV and intermediate football programs will have three associate head coaches: Mike Ulufale, who played defensive tackle for Brigham Young University in 1994 and 1995; Rick Saunders, who earned University of Hawaii football letters as a defensive back from 1985-87; and Kip Akana, a youth sports coach for 10 years who has been involved with Pee Wee and Pop Warner programs.
