Govs get complete-game outing from Shiroma in win over Falcons

Alex Shiroma did a bit of everything for the Farrington Governors Wednesday afternoon.

Shiroma posted a pair of extra-base hits with two runs batted in and recorded a complete game on the mound to lift Farrington to a 9-4 win over Kalani in an OIA Eastern Division baseball game at Lanakila Park.

The Governors improved to 5-5, while the Falcons fell to 4-6 in the OIA Division I East standings.

Shiroma's RBI-double in the bottom of the fifth inning gave Farrington the lead for good. The Govs plated six runs in the frame and got an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out triple off the bat of Shiroma to score Chansen Ondayog.

Farrington got on the board with Keanu Aga's two-run home run over the right field fence in the bottom of first inning.

Kalani pullled even in the top of the third with a pair of runs on base knocks by Kalehua Akaka and Jase Fujikawa.

The Falcons took a brief lead in the top half of the fifth inning, when Fujikawa doubled with two outs to score Akaka.

Akaka and Fujikawa each batted 2 for 4 in the loss.

Leadoff batter Cade Nagamine went 2 for 4 at the plate with a pair of runs scored in the win.

Shiroma allowed four runs on eights with five strikeouts and no walks.

Logan Ouchi took the loss for the Falcons. He was tagged for eight runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 4 1/3 innings of work.

Kalani sits in sixth place in the OIA D1 East standings with two games to play. It will host Kaiser next Wednesday, then close out the regular season against Castle on Apr. 22.

Farrington, which is tied for third place with Moanalua, will host Kailua Saturday, then Castle next Wednesday.

The top six teams from the East and West will qualify for the 12-team OIA Division I tournament in two weeks.
