Kapaa downs Hawaii Prep; Waianae next

Kapaa, the Kauai Interscholastic Federation champion, defeated Hawaii Prep in four sets Wednesday night to advance in the New City Nissan/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II Girls Volleyball Championships.

Three players finished with double digit kills to power the Warriors past Ka Makani, 25-9, 19-25, 25-20 and 25-19 at Kaimuki's Gymnasium.

The Warriors will move on to take on fourth-seeded Waianae, the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II champion, in the first semifinal at Kaimuki Thursday night.

Keani Tolenoa had a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs while serving up three aces to lead Kapaa. Paea Tafea and Kaehukaiihaamainae Keala followed with 12 and 10 kills respectively to round out the Warriors' leading hitters.

Madi Lee had a match-high 17 kills with 12 digs and two blocks to lead Hawaii Prep in the loss.
