Cho named Kamehameha girls basketball coach

HONOLULU – Joseph Cho has been hired as the head varsity girls basketball coach for Kamehameha Schools Kapālama, the schools’ athletic department confirmed today.

Cho takes over the program after Darold Imanaka resigned after three years at the head of the Warrior program. Cho currently also serves as the head football coach at his alma mater, McKinley High School, where he has been for the past five seasons.

"Coach Cho is a veteran coach who has experienced success in multiple sports, across diverse settings," Associate Athletic Director Robert Benham said. "We believe that he will challenge our players to achieve their fullest potential."

Cho spent 28 years coaching basketball and football, at various levels, in the state of Oregon. He coached both football and boys basketball at Cascade High School in the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, before moving on to coach at North Salem from 2000-08, four years as football coach and two as boys basketball coach, while also having a two-year stint as the girls basketball coach at Kennedy High School.
