Pair of Crusaders shine in weekend Nike events

Two Saint Louis prospects increased their recruiting stock over the past weekend, thanks to their efforts in select Nike events around the Los Angeles County. Fred Ulu-Perry, who is currently a junior at Saint Louis, took home offensive lineman MVP honors at the SoCal Nike Camp in Redondo, Calif.

Ulu-Perry drew high praise from scout.com’s national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins: “In a deep group of linemen, Ulu-Perry was the most athletic and dominant in the one on ones to take home MVP honors. At about 6-2.5, 310 pounds, the lineman will play guard in college but took reps at tackle and looked great. He has strong, powerful upper body with a great punch and moves very well laterally. He plays with great technique as well, competes very hard and has to be one of the most under-recruited players in the West.”

The 6-foot-2 1/2 offensive lineman also has offers from Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Texas Tech, Washington State, Kansas and San Jose State.

In the Los Angeles Nike Football SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness) Combine at Cerritos College in Cerritos, Calif., Saint Louis’ class of 2016 receiver Drew Kobayashi performed well, registering the fourth highest SPARQ rating among a field of over 1400. Kobayashi also ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds.
