One more win away from state title No. 10.
Miliana Sylvester put down 25 kills with five blocks as University Lab defeated Damien in four sets Thursday night at Kalani's Earl C. Holmer Gymnasium to reach the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division II Girls Volleyball Championship.
Set scores were 24-26, 25-14, 25-22 and 25-22.
Sylvester, who recently inked a letter of intent to play for the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine, hit .500 on the match with 44 swings as the Jr. Bows advance to face Mid-Pacific in the state final. First serve is slated for 5:00 p.m. Friday at the Cannon Activities Center on the campus of BYU-Hawaii.
The Owls will be trying for their first state championship in school history after outlasing Hawaii Baptist in five sets by the score of 18-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22 and 15-13.
Payton Smith led a trio of hitters in double digit kills with 24 kills on 57 swings to power Mid-Pacific.
