Kalaheo notched its first win of the season with a 28-7 win over McKinley in an OIA Division II contest at Roosevelt's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium Saturday night.

The Mustangs scored 21 unanswered points in the second quarter and never looked back to improve to 1-1 in league play.

Jude Weber threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns and Kamalu Jordan finished with four receptions for 139 yards and two scores.

Jordan's first TD came on a 57-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter using a nifty play design.

Facing a third-and-16 on its opening drive, Kalaheo sent a receiver in motion across the field, brought him back inside before going out on a wheel route, only to set up a tunnel screen for Jordan on the left side of the field.

Jordan's second TD reception came on a deep post throw by Weber, a 54-yard hookup with 1:09 left in the first half.

Vinny Bandini was also essential in the passing game with five receptions for 89 yards and a TD. His scoring grab came on a trick play by the Mustangs. On fourth-and-13, the Mustangs went for a double pass with Zayden Napulou firing a 29-yard strike after catching a pass from Weber on a perceived bubble screen.

Jordan added 72 yards on the ground and Marcus Sasaki ran for 68 yards and a 12-yard score to help keep Kalaheo's offense balanced.

The Tigers (0-3) suffered their 24th straight loss dating back to 2019. They did however earn their first score of the season when Mana Lala-Saole scored on a 6-yard run to tie the game at the 4:13 mark of the first quarter.

Sean Ucciardi led the Kalaheo defense with three sacks.

Nathaniel Recto was a standout for the McKinley defense with a game-high four pass breakups.
