Kezia Lucas and Nevaeh Telles each hit a home run to lift No. 3 Kamehameha to an 11-4 win over No. 8 Mililani in the quarterfinals of the DataHouse/HHSAA Division I Softball State Championships Wednesday night.
The Warriors (13-5) rallied after allowing four runs by the Trojans (9-7) in the top of the first inning. Kiani-Taylor Soller threw a complete-game five-hitter to record the win for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champions.
Telles batted 2 for 4 with two RBI and a team-high three runs scored. Lucas drove in four runs and Daylee Williams (2 for 4, double, run scored), Jewels Hanawahine (2 for 4, RBI, two runs scored) and Miquela Leopoldo (2 for 4, double, run scored) also paired hits for Kamehameha.
Amber Aniya slugged a three-run home run for Mililani.
Soller struck out two batters and allowed two walks to improved to 8-0 on the season.
Makayla Pagampao took the loss for the Trojans. The junior allowed eight earned runs on 13 hits, with a pair of strikeouts and one walk.
Kaui Garcia batted 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and a run scored in the loss.
Kamehameha will face No. 2 Waianae in a 7 p.m. semifinal Thursday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Mililani will play third-seeded Baldwin at 2 p.m. at McKinley in a consolation game.
No. 1 Campbell 4, Kapolei 3
Quinn Waiki batted 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored and Taryn Irimata tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts to lead the Sabers to a 4-3 win over the Hurricanes in the late quarterfinal Wednesday night.
Waiki was the lone player to pair hits, while Irimata went the distance to help Campbell secure its spot in Thursday's semifinal round.
Kandi Malama-Ahlo took the loss for Kapolei. She surrendered eight hits and three walks against one strikeout and also batted 3 for 3 with a home run in the loss.
Campbell will meet Iolani in Thursday's semifinals at 4:30 p.m. at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium, while Kapolei will play Waiakea in a consolation game at Noon Thursday at McKinley's Tiger Softball Stadium.
