Top-seeded KS-Hawaii flexed its offensive prowess with a 13-3 six-inning win over Waipahu Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the DataHouse/HHSAA Division II state tournament.

The Warriors, the Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion, overcame an early 2-0 deficit with 10 consecutive runs in the first three innings to put the game out of reach for the unseeded Marauders.

Waipahu broke KS-Hawaii's string of scores with a run in the top of the fifth, but the Warriors added three more runs for a mercy-rule victory.

KS-Hawaii advances to face unseeded Saint Francis, the Interscholastic League Honolulu representative, Friday in a 2:15 p.m. semifinal at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Xandra-Li Helenihi batted 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs scored to lead the Warriors at the plate. Leiloa-Valerie Bustamante and Jessica Cameros also recorded a double.

Brooke Baptiste earned the pitching win, scattering four hits with seven strikeouts in six innings of work. She also helped her case with a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning.

Waipahu's Donna Samuelu was the losing pitcher. She was chased after 1 1/3 innings after giving up seven runs, seven walks and one hit.

Grace Kaopua finished the game in the circle for the Marauders. She also was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs to lead Waipahu in the loss.
