Saint Francis throttled Molokai, 14-2 in the opening round of the DataHouse/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II Softball State Championships on Tuesday at the Tigers Softball Stadium at McKinley.

The Saints will advance to the quarterfinals to play Oahu Interscholastic and third-seeded Aiea at 5 p.m. The Farmers will play Kalaheo at 3 p.m. on Thursday at McKinley.

Molokai scored first after Waipuna Kelly-Paleka's single brought in Camille Ledesma.However, Saint Francis responded with an eight-run outburst and never looked back. The Saints got four runs off of walks and Sammie Ofoia doubled to left field for 2RBI. The Saints had eight different players drive in runs led by Joerden Lovell, who went 2-for-2 and hit a 2RBI home run.

The Farmers added another run after Kapua Lee scored off of an error. They were led by Sydney Rawlins who went 2-for-2. The Saints blew it open in the bottom of the third inning scoring six runs to invoke the mercy rule. Rasela Vili went 2-for-2 and doubled to centerfield for 2RBI.
