Hawaii prep athletes participate in Nike Combine


A total of 19 Hawaii high school football players were on hand for the Nike SPARQ Recruiting Combine held at Laney College in Oakland, Calif. Saturday. Unofficial results from the combine can be found here.

Kamehameha-Kapalama defensive back Dylan Kane dazzled with a SPARQ rating of 107.34, the second highest out of a field of over 1,300 participants. Kane ran the 40-yard dash in 4.73 seconds and had a vertical jump of 36.2 inches. Warrior receiver Kaimi Kamalani also impressed with a 4.13 time in the 20-yard dash. Kamalani’s 20-time tied the fourth-best mark at the combine. 

Out of the Hawaii schools, Mililani had the largest amount of participants with 10. Receiver Kalakaua Timoteo posted a SPARQ rating of 80.85, the highest among his Trojan peers. Quarterback McKenzie Milton was another top performer with a 40-time of 4.77. 

There was a trio of underclassmen representing the Farrington Governors: sophomore linebacker Jeremiah Pritchard, freshman running back Freedom Alualu and freshman defensive back Keikiokalani Misipeka. Out of the Hawaii participants, Alualu did the best in the kneeling power ball toss with a distance of 39 inches.

The Valley Isle also had a trio of representatives: Maui defensive lineman Alexander Vainikolo, Lahainaluna offensive lineman Danny Sulunga-Kahaialii and Kamehameha-Maui linebacker Michael Kahula. Vainikolo had the second highest SPARQ rating (85.65) out of the other Hawaii participants.

Kealakehe sophomore defensive lineman Isaac Kioa rounded out the group.
